Our story
Why the company carries this name
Blalock Business Services started as an accounting firm, founded by Aleatha Blalock to serve small businesses and the families behind them. She built it over the course of her career on a straightforward premise, that a client is someone you know by name.
After she passed, her son La Var built this company in her memory and kept her name on the door. The work moved from ledgers to networks. The standard behind it did not change.
As the company grew, La Var brought family into daily operations. BBS is still family owned and operated, and that is the reason support here does not feel like a ticket queue. Our clients are treated the way Aleatha treated hers.
La Var Blalock
La Var founded the company's technology practice in his mother's memory in 2008 and leads it today. He works directly with the businesses BBS supports across Eastern Michigan and the Detroit Metro area, from the first conversation about what is failing through the ongoing relationship that follows.
He has been active in the local business community through BNI for nine years, where the relationships that bring in the work are the same ones that keep it good. The team stays deliberately small, so the person answering already knows your setup.
